The village of Anguillara
Mabi sweet home
Anguillara Sabazia
A village on the lake
Anguillara Sabazia
Set on a promontory mirrored in Lake Bracciano, the old town of Anguillara Sabazia has kept its medieval layout: climbing lanes, panoramic little squares and glimpses of the water at every turn. From Mabi Sweet Home you're already within this scene — just step out the front door.
Among lanes and squares
What to admire
You enter through Porta Maggiore, the sixteenth-century gate crowned by a clock, and climb the main street up to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, at the highest point of the village. Beside it opens the terrace with the Fontana delle Anguille, the Eel Fountain overlooking the lake and the town's emblem. Along the way stands the Palazzo Baronale Orsini with its frescoes and, a little below, the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie on the lakefront.
The charm of the village
To experience as a couple
Beyond the monuments, it's the atmosphere that makes Anguillara special: the artisan workshops, the aromas from the trattorias, the golden light of sunset that sets the stone and the lake aglow. A walk at dusk through the quiet lanes is the best way to fall in love with this corner of Lazio.
